Attendance

At Sudbourne, each day of a child’s education is important and we don’t want them to miss out. We ask parents to make sure their children attend every day (unless they are unwell). Due to a recent change in legislation, headteachers are not permitted to authorise any absence during term time.

Punctuality and Attendance

It is very important that our pupils come to school on time. Lessons start as soon as the register has been taken; if pupils are even a few minutes late it can be confusing for them and disruptive for the class.

The school day runs as follows:

  • Key Stage 1 – 9am – 3.15pm
  • Key Stage 2 – 8.45am – 3.15pm
  • Nursery AM – 8.30am – 11.30am
  • Nursery PM – 12.15pm – 3.15pm
  • NB we also offer full-time Nursery places - 8.30am-3.15pm (please see Admissions for full details)

If a pupil is going to be late, they need to come to school via the office to make sure their name is entered into the Late Book and they take a late pass therefore ensuring that we know they are on the premises for Health & Safety reasons.

If a child is absent due to illness, parents/carers must phone the school as soon as possible, this needs to be followed by one of the following:

  • completing a yellow Absence Slip (available from the school office) or
  • a written note confirming the reason for the absence or
  • sending an email to admin@sudbourne.com.

Unauthorised absence and persistent lateness are taken very seriously at Sudbourne Primary School, please take the time to read our full Attendance Policy if you have any concerns.
